DESCRIPTION

Automation but diversity creation of products is the trend for design+technology innovation. Robotic arm is one of powerful devices by connecting the diverse materials including bio-organic and non-organic materials to a new product. In this workshop,  we are using bio-organic materials for generating a dynamic but symbiotic form. With exploring the inner structure of bio-organic and additive fabrication mechanism, we can then generate a type of symbiotic structure.

LEARNING GOALS

Participants will explore how material complexity affects form through the integration of robotic arms and parametric design tools. This method will control robotic arm to dip a rod in melt material continuely. Controlling the timing of materials solidifying and places of dip- pings precisely, the structure on the head of the rod will accumulate gradually.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of 3D modeling in Rhino and Parametric
  • Knowledge of Grasshopper
  • Basic robot knowledge
